JDW 2011 Autumn Festival. Dull best bitter. Few hops. Odd taste. Uninteresting.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Hazy amber beer. Residual white head. Trace of carbonation. Okay pale malt. Whisper of sulphur. Insipid hop. Meh!

Cask, The Swim Inn, Sheffield. Wetherspoon Ale Festival. Golden colour, thin head. Skunky aroma, a but thin and watery, then a sharpness on the palette. Bright but off finish.

Cask at The Central Bar, JDW, London. Pours clear, rich gold with a fluffy but fading white head. Light biscuits and wet hay aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor, some cereal, biscuits, dough and straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faintly bitter finish, more crispy straw and mild dough. Somewhat bland in character but not offensive in any way.

Hand pulled cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW) Watford. Gold with a white head. Pleasant golden ale but minimal use of Cascade hops left me rather bored. Box Steam can do better than this.

Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Golden with a white foam. Aromas are lemon with tinned pineapple juice with lots of honey and caramel. Hay with herbal notes. Flavours are sweet lemon and caramel with biscuit and soft yeast and spices. Fruity and dry to finish. It is very OK.

Colour is golden / light brown. Nose is sulphorous Burton ’snatch’. Kind of overpowers everything else. Taste is toasty golden ale but not much in the way of citrous hop, honey or hop. Maybe a touch of sweetness coming through. Sulphorous coming through in the taste too which I’m not a fan of.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2011 Hand pulled at the Briar Rose, Birmingham. Like a wet, heaving stack of mildewed hay. Light in the mouth, but the flavour (such as it is) sags like a dying impala.

Cask handpull at Baker Street Spoons. Clear pale brown with no head. oh now that is not my type of bitter. Bit of green apple. Yeast character on aroma carries into body. Not enough malt or hop balance to cope with the strong yeast character. Ok but not me

Cask @ 3 Judges. Slightly hazy golden colour, off-white head. Nose is toffee and fruits. Flavour is caramel malts, toffee, lot of fruits, followed by biscuit. Slightly dry finish.
