Cask and bottle: Seasonal - Christmas.
A strong golden session ale. The grapefruit nose and citrus flavours give way to a smooth, hoppy and slightly sweet finish.

Bottle from my Christmas box... Dark gold with a thin head, citrus and a little grass hops on the nose, body is spicy and grassy, with an earthy, almost Saison like body.

Cask conditioned at St. Aldates Tavern as Christmas Box, Oxford. Gold with white head. Spelty, grainy beer with a touch of sourness, some boiled vegetable notes. Not the best of beers.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2013 Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co. - Clerkenwell, London. Smells like all kInds of sweet, sugary pale malts, bit of dough. Medium sweet flavour, lots of bready malt character, hay and straw, some light cereal. Tasty, simple beer.

Cask - The Market Porter, London. A clear dark golden coloured beer that poured with a white head leaving a scattered soapy lace. Sulphorous aroma with a mild pale malt sweetness, orange & some bready yeast. Malty biscuit on the tongue, some more sulphur and sweet citrus notes. Medium-ish body, soft mouthfeel & a sweet dominant finish with just a delicate pithy citrus bitterness. In good nick, despite the sulphur. A meaty quaffer with nice enough balance, if a bit on the sweeter side of things. As a side note, it would seem that I’m quite sensitive to sulphurous qualities in beer as it came across fairly strong to me yet my girlfriend didn’t pick up on it.

Cask as Christmas Box Blonde at the Victoria Station ’spoons. Hazy straw coloured with a tin white head; aroma of damp straw; the taste is grainy and sweet with a tocuh of citrus; and the finish is soft, lightly bitter and lacking definition. Overall a fuzzy, disappointing beer.
