3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Andyís corner bar. Deep reddish copper brown in color with an off white head. Malty caramel toasty aroma. Malty, caramel bitter flavor. Some diacytel notes. Medium bodied. If it wasnít for the diacytel it would be a really nice beer. I did enjoy the first few sips.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 oz bottle that definitely has some QC issues. I popped the cap and was treated with a loud gushing sound and was shocked when it didnít start overflowing. Poured into my DFH hybrid snifter/tulip glass to receive about a half inch of actual liquid and four inches of super foamy light beige head. After letting it settle and finishing pouring the rest of the bottle into the glass I realized almost 15 minutes had transpired, glad Iím not a bartender trying to serve this while Iím busy. Once settled the aroma was very dusty, some cocoa powder, dried out old grains, some dark cherry skins. The palate was not pleasant and itís super carbonation almost scratches your throat as it goes down. The flavor was similar to the aroma with a touch of very lightly buttered dark bread toast and a hint of chocolate. Meh, not good.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
looks nice and deep brown with burnt orange and seemingly red hues including a banded cream and light brown head. a foamy and vibrant carbonation that is just a touch stingy and therefore lively. flavors of sweet carob and caramel with root and licorice. a touch of earth for balance and chicory with a hoppy note in the backround. this is a very good lightly chocolatey brown ale indeed though the aroma is a bit weak like broth. a bit of cherry cola in there too.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
THOUGHTS: The packaging is a little too simple. The style of beer it is should really be right side up on the front of the label instead of written sideways on the side of the label. I was hoping this would be a case of being wrong about judging a book by its cover, but the beer wasnít all that great either. It smelled OK, but the flavor seemed a bit watered down and artificial.
TECHNICAL: BOTTLE. Poured a medium to dark brown with red highlights and a small to average, beige head that mostly lasted and left fair lacing. The aroma was nice but week and contained moderate roasted malt, nutty malt, chocolate and bakerís chocolate; lighter caramel; slight grassy hops; cherry; wood; and hints of brown sugar and maple syrup. The initial flavor lightly sweet, slightly sour, lightly acidic and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and light to moderately bitter with an average duration. The flavor was all a bit watered down, but there was caramel, nutty malt, cherry, wood, toasted malt, slight roasted malt, slight grassy hops, and almost artificial cherry. The light to medium body was sort of watery and then a bit dry with rather fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly chalky finish.
