COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just in time for the warm spring days of 2012, Mango Ginger Ale is flying off shelves faster than we ever thought possible! It must be that crisp, delicious flavor taking everyone by storm. First take in fresh mango to your nose, then get a hint of ginger with the first sip. Bright mango washes it down, and finally a ginger pop comes back with hops in the finish.

Bottle. Fruity sweet nose, lightly yeasty and with subdued hops. Hazy pale orange body with a goodly amount of carbonation and a soapy white head. Taste sweet with light yeasty-bready undertones emerging in the aftertaste, ginger is there but rather subdued, which is more than can be said about the mango. Alcohol well-hidden, not much in the way of malt or even hops; it might help reputation to brand this as an Amber instead of a pale ale / IPA. Medium body with fizzy carb reminiscent of selzer mixed with water ice, and not entirely clean, but refreshing enough.

Pours clear yellow orange with a foamy white head. Smells like ginger ale. Very thin / watery. Finish is ginger ale. DP, ugh.

Bottle courtesy of James. Pours a softly hazed golden amber with a large white head. Paper, spicy hops and a touch of ginger behind it. Medium bodied, weird flavors here. Like gummy mango fruit with ginger and old club soda. Strange mango like notes carry over after the finish. What is this? Weird. Unpleasant paper aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours orange amber with white head. Nose and taste of ginger root, mango, seltzer water and lemon. Soda like carbonation - like mango and ginger in seltzer water. Light body. Slightly metallic.

The mango comes through more so than the ginger, but it didn’t taste like much of an IPA or even a less hoppy pale. An okay beer, but I wanted more IBU.

THOUGHTS: A very different kind of IPA. It wasn’t really all that bitter, but it wasn’t a bad beer at all. The closest beer to it that I can think of would probably be Dogfish Head Aprihop. Interesting but they should hardly call it an IPA. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light to medium, slightly brownish orange with and average, slightly off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair to good lacing. The aroma had light to moderate fruits; light herbal hops; ginger; and unsweetened fruit. The initial flavor was slightly sweet; while the finish was lightly sweet and bitter. The flavor was a bit watered down, but contained ginger, mango, seltzer water, herbal hops and grains. The light to medium body was sort of watery with rather fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic finish.

As this beer warms, it seems to get worse. The aroma goes from a hint of ginger to something like cough syrup. The flavor is metallic with a bit of syrupy what I suspect is the mango. A bit of ginger shows up too. My second from Boxcar, maybe my last.

Pours a slightly hazy honey color with minimal white head. Aroma has mild ginger. Flavor has ginger and lots of doughy notes...like pie crust...doughyness reminds me of pumking. Mouthfeel is full...syrupy with a mildly fruity/doughy finish. This doesnt drink like an IPA.

Bottle. Pours out a lightly cloudy copper color with no head. Aroma is terrible, like bad, over sweetened candy, and a blend of all Slurpee flavors. Taste is a blend of strange, artificially sweetened mango juice, iced tea that had too much sweet and low in it, light hops in there, and sweetness on the finish. This was a disaster.
