DruncanVeasey (1794), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Jan 6, 2008 Updated: Jan 7, 2008Bottle from a Brugge nightshop. Sweet, slightly nutty caramel and malt loaf aroma, with a scattering of raisins. Liquorice showing through in the mouth, with plain but pleasant dark fruit and yeasty dubbel-ish flavours. Faint fizz and climbing suds. Opaque and stouty. Some ash and tobacco. Liquorice becoming increasingly obvious as it warms. Not bad at all. MesandSim (4559), Highgate, Greater London, England Dec 25, 2007 A Mes rate: 33cl bottle at Kerstfest, Essen.
Black red with a decent tan head. Sweet roasty malt aroma with plenty of yeast, spice, christmas fruit. Very sweet yeasty flavour with some nice smoky malt. Interesting but not amazing. Smoke develops nicely in the finish. yespr (7165), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 24, 2007 33 cL bottle, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium. Pours dark brown with a lacing light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, dried fruity note and mild yeasty tone. Flavour is slight breadish with a note of dried fruit. Remains un-sweet without really becoming dry.
