Golden pour with large head which quickly dissipated. Some notes of spices and citrus in the flavor and aroma. Felt like a lighter version of Triangle Golden honestly.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Elwood (1966) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - APR 26, 2010
Serving: Draft at the brewpub.
It pours a clear, deep gold color with a foamy, white head. The nose is a mix of flora hops, grain, and butter notes. The taste is both buttery and hoppy and not in a good way. Despite the description that calls it crisp, I found the palate to be slick and buttery. Light to medium body with a short finish. Rather mediocre overall.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (3100) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 1, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Very bright pour, lively golden and a fine rich carbonation. Sharp grassy aromas and peppery hops. They weren’t kidding about this being closer to a pils than a Belgian blond. Soft mouthfeel, quite drinkable. Spicy and pert with enough soft citrus and malt to balance. Pretty decent.

I think this was the Golden but it was called Gantlet not Gateway. This is a really nice very hoppy German Pilsner type. Plenty of aromas, and tastes, with still a clean finish, Must be Close to Jever in IBU’s
