This one poured from the can purchased at Albertsons in Livingston, Montana with the expected medium amber color and moderately lasting head. As advertised, hops were just enough to balance and provide an herbal aroma. A good all around brew.

12 oz pour from refrigerated can into beer mug. Amber in color, mostly clear, moderate carbonation, moderate foamy white head. Strong malty biscuit nose, a bit of dough, and a hint of citrus. Medium body with a crisp finish. Taste mimics nose. Sweet with a bready finish. A solid amber ale.

Transfer from BA review on 5-4-14- Poured from can into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a deep amber color with a one finger head of white billowy foam. The head has a lighter level of retention, fading to leave a tiny level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is mainly of a caramel aroma with light hints of a roasted malt smell mixed within. Some very light floral and herbal smells are there as well helping to balance out the caramel smells. Taste – The taste begins with a smoother lightly toasted malt and caramel flavor. The caramel flavor gains strength toward the middle only to fade again more toward the end of the taste. All the while the roasted malt flavors remain relatively constant, creating a base flavor for the brew. As the nose would have suggested, some hop flavors come at the end of the taste with a floral, herbal, and earthy hop flavor all making their presence known. In the end, these hop flavors end up mixing with the rest of the flavors to leave a rather smooth and pleasant lightly roasted caramel flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The mouthfeel is rather nice for the amber ale style while also being great for the easy drinking nature of the brew, Overall – A tasty and very easy drinking amber ale. While not anything too outstanding overall, it is a good 6 packer beer to share with friends as it is flavorful and very non offensive; good for just about any taste preference.

Can from the Canyon General Store in Yellowstone National Park. Pours amber with a large beige head. Aroma of mildly treacly malt with a little citrus. Med body. Flavor is mild treacle with a little hard to pin down hop. Last resort for those who want strong flavors. First resort for those who don’t.

Poured from 12 oz. can at the Geyser Grill at the Snow Lodge at Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, WY. Clear, reddish dark amber, with a 2-finger khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of pale malt and earthy citric hops. Taste of toasted Vienna malt, pale malt and Cascade hops with earthy undertones. On the malty side for an amber ale, but the balance works very nicely. Medium body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smooth and hoppy. Had off tap at fiddlers green in Billings, Mt. Full bodied and nicely balanced amber. My first beer in Montana as well...so it’s special.
