madsberg (4365), Bangalore, India Mar 7, 2008 Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Brown creamy lasting head. Sweetness, light chocolate, some fruits and spices in the aroma. Quite dense from the early start, but increases as the beer warms up. Flavour is light roasted, has loads coffee, light cocoa and chocolate. Has a touch of vanilla. Very well balanced beer, and quite complex. Is medium to full bodied. Quite dry. Ends on a roasty and light sweet note. Has some bitternotes as well. Where is the chili one could ask, but as others have stated, it really starts, when the bottle is emptied. A light burn on palate and lips finishes this beer in an awesome way. Definately the best chilibeer I ever tasted. Thank to my friend Henrik for bringing 2 bottles of this to Bangalore.
illinismitty (1414), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 30, 2008 Sampled at RBSG 08. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of dark roast and cocoa powder. Medium bodied but slightly thin in the middle. Flavor of milk chocolate and wet grains with some slight astrigency on the finish. I picked up little to almost no chipotle. Still decent, but not great. TheDog (247), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 24, 2008 Bottle. Black colour with a dark/beige head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts and roasted sugars. Nice taste again of dark chocolate, sugar and rich dark malts. The chili taste first begins in the long finish with a prickle on the tongue. A very good chocolate stout! Marsiblursi (1400), Göteborg, Sweden Aug 19, 2008 (Bottle) Pours black. The aroma is medium to heavily roasted with notes of dark chocolate, tar, salt liquorice and espresso alongside a light spiciness. The flavour is chocolaty with a late and mild peppery spiciness. The mouthfeel is clean and a bit watery. Light to medium bodied.
goldtwins (3731), Nesconset, New York, USA Aug 18, 2008 RBSG ’08: Poured black with a dark tan head. Quite a bit of milk chocolate in the aroma with a touch of chili or chaulk. I couldn’t make up my mind. The flavor was mostly of roasted malt and started semi-sweet. The finish dried out. Light-medium bodied. I wish the was more chili to it. DSG (844), Yuvalim, Israel Aug 9, 2008 (6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Black-colored. Aroma of roasted malt and cocoa. Sweetish roasty flavor with some chocolate and a bit of caramel. Medium to full-bodied. Nice, but somehow I missed the chili in this one.
