pilsnerrogge (1589), Finspång, Sweden Aug 6, 2008 2006 bottle. Pours clear amber with a mid-sized, firm head. Sweet, fruity aroma with notes of salty liquorice, marzipan and alcohol. Thick mouth-feel. Sweet and fruity with loads of alcohol flavour; too much alcohol flavour. Feels a bit lager-ish. A Malt Liquor-style Barley Wine. cellar (331), Dublin, Ireland Jul 11, 2008 2005, Unclear, dark amber, malty notes of ripe fruit and toffee, sweet flavour and warming alcohol in finish. Well balanced. Grovlam (3086), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 6, 2008 Bottle 50 cl. Average light creamy looking beige head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Lovely amber color that appeared clear in body. Aroma was quite vinous with notes of almost cognac proportion. Mild bread, grain, hint of dried fruity notes as well. Over the palate came mild underlying hoppy feel that balanced this Barley Wine quite well. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation and thick mild alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor in balance. Lingering mild warming alcoholic sweet finish with a twist of bitterness at the end. Defreni (482), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 21, 2008 Flaske. 2005 årgang.
Meget frugtrig duft, men meget tilbagetrukket BW. Typisk engelsk stil. Lidt tofee er der også i smagen, men den er ikke helt oppe at ringe. Men godt håndværk er det. Mogwai (176), Askeby, Denmark May 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber colour with off-white head. Aroma is hops, malt, caramel, dark fruits. Flavor is like the aroma, with a distinct alcohol feel making you fel warm inside. Really good.
