Pinball (587), Allerød, Denmark Apr 29, 2008 aroma is like a (cheap) danish gold beer, quite full and heavy though. not bad. Looks are also close to the typical danish cheap strong beer, except perhaps a little darker. small foam. looks rather boring. Taste is similar to cheap strong beer, alc not hidden. tastes like very strong alc. Taste got better as it warmed up though. Palate is average, but nothing special. overall not one i’m coming back to. Too close to discount strong beer imo.
JMFG (1173), Florida, USA Sep 30, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseman. 2005 vintage. Copper-orange color and thin, sparse white head. Caramel malt notes, slight alcohol, apples, dark fruits. General sweet character, caramel, milder dark fruits. Very general barley wine, but still nice. hopscotch (4577), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle… NFL Day at dchmela’s in O-Town... This beer rocks!… Cloudy orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The malty, vinous aroma provides additional, rich notes of brown sugar and praline. Full-bodied and fatty with lucid carbonation. Full-blown malt bomb! Sweet toffee and candy sugar with a fuzzy fruit undercurrent. A touch boozy. Finishes sweet, creamy and rich. Man, I love dessert! Big thanks to TheCheeseMan for providing me the opportunity to try this gem! TaxiDriver (528), Stadland, Germany Sep 24, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malty, sweet, light yeasty. A very small creamy-fizzy light brown head, rather fast disappearing. A cloudy dark orange body. Moderate acidic taste, light sour and bitter, average duration. Dry and creamy, medium body, soft carbonation. dchmela (768), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2008 2005 bottle couretsy the Cheeseman. Caramel brown colored pour with a thin head. Caramel toffee and apple pie aroma, just a big malt bomb. more caramel and fruit in the taste, lots of big thick malt with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Interesting version of a barley wine. pilsnerrogge (1609), Finspång, Sweden Aug 6, 2008 2006 bottle. Pours clear amber with a mid-sized, firm head. Sweet, fruity aroma with notes of salty liquorice, marzipan and alcohol. Thick mouth-feel. Sweet and fruity with loads of alcohol flavour; too much alcohol flavour. Feels a bit lager-ish. A Malt Liquor-style Barley Wine.
