Cask; Regular.
A traditional copper coloured mal ale using the finest English hops to produce both floral and smooth aroma but still giving it a sharp finish.

Cask@Euston Tap, London. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, mild wood, some not-too-sweet syrup as well as mild toast. Flavour is caramel malts,some wood, herbs, sap and mild nutty notes. Fruity and caramel malty aftertaste.

On cask at the Bell Bell. Pours a dark golden colour with a decent white head. Aroma of caramel, grassy hops and yeast. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and a creamy mouth-feel.

Rebadged as Devonshire Cat Bitter. BBBB of a medium calibre. Nothing exciting and borders on the tedious. Would be low on the list of things I would order again.

Draft@Swan & Rushes. Dark amber beer with a strongish head, fruity aroma, and a light fruity flavour with a bitter finished. The flavour is bitter and roasted with a nice bitter finish. Overall a good bitter.

Cask, Swan & Rushes, Leicester. Copper with a thin cream foam. Aromas are light weetabix malts with toffee and nutty notes. Peach and melon with black tea. Floral and spicy with thin lemon and metal. Flavours are sweet weetabix with caramel. Autumnal with spices. Not bad.

(Cask at Euston Tap, Euston, London, 21 July 2011) Dark amber colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, slightly toasty nose with dark bread and a touch of caramel. Malty, clean taste with notes of dark bread, caramel and slightly dusty hops. Medium body, quite dry. Well balanced and quite nice.

Cask conditioned handpump Lamplighter Northampton. A classic brown coloured beer. An oatsy toasty crunchy aroma which becomes a very dry standard but tasty English bitter done well with fruity notes.

Cask handpull, The New Barrack Tavern, Sheffield. Clear copper, thick cream collar. Sesame and slight dampness aroma. Sesame and choc, slight soapiness, clinging biscuit finish. Fresh and good.
