Brown ale with pale beige, creamy head and deep, warm chestnut brown colour. Dried fruits and caramel malts, bit metallic, finishing very lightly toasted. Nice session beer, as an old-fashioned English brown ale should be.

Caramel brown, white head. Aroma of soft caramel and sweet toffee. Taste same as aroma, some nice soft sweet toffee in here and a bit nutty as I recall. Palate was thin to medium, was a bit creamy. Finish of smooth soft toffee. Was OK and finished the half.

Crystal clear brown colored body. Low coarse sand-colored lacing head. Rich caramel nose with hint of perfume. Smooth and creamy in the mouth. Good body for the alcohol strenght. Soft caramel flavor. Mild peppery hops to balance. Smooth peppery malt finish. A very fine Bitter. [Shared bottle at Larsga’s. 20.08.13]

Bottled. Clear brown, lively carbonation. Beige head. Malty nose. Soft.
Caramel, some bitterness int he tail. Well balanced, elegant, even.

Cask at the Victoria Hotel, Robin Hood’s Bay, September 2013. Clear dark brown with a frothy cream-coloured head. Faint aroma, some chocolate, some butter, some brownies. Very mild bitterness, light chocolate. Smooth texture, light-bodied.

Small beige head. Clear brown body. Roasty earthy caramelly aroma with rye crisp bread notes. Dry-sweet roasty earthy sugary taste with spicy grainy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry grainy chocolate and straw aftertaste with earthy spicy notes. Really nice and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle from Beermoth, Manchester.)

Cask. Clear brown with next to no head. Has a pleasant light malty character. Easily a session ale.
