Cask (handpump), at the Victoria Hotel, Menai Bridge, Anglesey, October 2005. Beer hunting in North Wales can be a challenging experience and, over the course of a week’s visit, beers from this small local micro were particularly elusive. This was the only one I managed to track down. An amber coloured beer. Although the basic ingredients are the same as those in Amnesia from the same brewery (which I tried and enjoyed greatly from bottle a while ago), the Cascade hops do not exert the same degree of influence and the overall feel is rather more restrained. Quite dry and bitter, with some restrained fruity notes and citrus to provide some balance. Plenty of grip, with a long, bitter finish. Admittedly quite straightforward, but a well made, reasonably tasty, best bitter.
