0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 LordKamina (12) - Santiago, CHILE - DEC 23, 2011
Had it on tap the other day at a bar; there was no good beer and I’d already had two glasses of aged rum on the rocks (I was driving so I wanted something with as little alcohol as possible, mostly to hydrate)
Anyway, they poured what looked like a regular pale lager in a extremely cold stein with virtually no head. The aroma was basically non-existant and the taste was mostly of cereal and pretty bitter (not in a good way)
Then came the aftertaste and it was horrible. I’m looking at the aroma sidebar but even so I cannot help but describe this as "skunky", it felt like I was drinking something gone bad.
The only thing I can say for this beer is that once you manage to get used to the awful taste, it goes down pretty easy on the palate since it has practically no texture.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 greenclansman (127) - Nicosia, CYPRUS - NOV 14, 2011
Golden color.
Hard to make a foaming head...and disappears quickly.
No smell at all.
Taste like a regular cheap lager, but it has a dry aftertaste.
Nice to get drunk, but nothing special on the beer world.
1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 bhensonb (7125) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 9, 2011
Bottle from Half Time. Pours gold with a creamy, foamy white head. Aroma is lightly bready with something like a wet cotton cloth. Med minus body. It’s lightly sweet, and there’s something like earthy bitter. Kind of light toffee with something bitter added. I think it gets a little better with each quaff. It’s certainly drinkable. Just not all that pleasant.

Can, totally plain. Rice and other additives water it Down. It’s better than avg fizzy yeller stuff.

Bottle 33cl. A clear light amber colour with a small white head. An aroma of malt. The taste is sweet. A light body, watery texture, soft carbonation and a abrupt finish.

Generally a foul beer. In Brazil they usually need to serve next to frozen to mask the ill flavoured aftertaste. But then again, it’s not like you have much to hope for with the Brazilian macros

What’s the point of rating this? I don’t know, man. Wherever you go in Brazil, they serve Brahma Chopp (but I must precise that the expression chopp really refer to the tap, while if you only say Brahma, you’ll be given a bottle). This rating is therefore based on the tap version: Small aroma of cereals that is quickly taken over by a massive dose of sweet corn (think Green Giant/Géant Vert). Nice head. Taste of water (think Aquafina, Evian or Volvic. Think whatever bottled water you like). I love water. Must be a good sign. Not too much hops, if any. Large presence of malt. Nice head I see. Did I say the head was nice? It is. I wonder if it is nitro-tapped (no matter where you go, be it the beaches of Rio de Janeiro or the churrascão of Porto Alegre, it always looks the same). Yellow-blonde beer. Not much to say. It’s not good, but it’s not horrible. It is what it is: a macro-bland-pale-lager. Boring but not offensive.Next!
