1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 davidpl (435) - Santiago, - AUG 23, 2007
Appearance: dark brown color with reddish tones. Medium head, beige color, few dense but persistent.
Aroma: toasty malty, slightly candy and cacao. Berries and figs touches. Slight smoked and hoppy.
Flavor: to much sweet, candy and low bitter-toasty for a so-called stout. Artificial flavors. The fruitiness maybe similar to berries, candied fig and black raisin. Aftertaste with slight toasty (like artificial) and smoked.
Palate: to much light for the beer style, medium carbonation.
Not a stout, extreme sweet and artificial (chemistry), few toasty, totally unbalanced, like a pop-soda. Not advisable
1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 ogivlado (4444) - Zagreb, CROATIA - APR 9, 2010
Canned 354ml. -My third beer from Chile. Other two (Cristal Black Lager and Austral Lager) were also cans, but they were 350ml??? Funny. Again, I’m the first European to rate this beer. Black coloured, small to medium pale brown head, strong caramel nose. Disgustingly sweet taste with touch of coffee near the end. Too sweeeeeet!!! Thanks for those 004ml, but no thanks again!!!
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 ketchepillar (903) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - SEP 3, 2009
Pretty poor. Underattenuated. Nasty sweetness, unpleasant palate. Weird fruitiness. Between a schwarzbier and a stout I would say.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 KingGambrinus (117) - Santiago, CHILE - AUG 1, 2007
Not really sure if it was a real stout, but it wasn’t that bad. Creamy persistent head. Aroma is malty with notes of coffee beans and bitter chocolate. Flavor was sweet and a little watery... also felt syrupy. I will try with the Porter.
2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 almosi (281) - Viña del Mar, CHILE - JUN 30, 2007
In can, 354 ml. Has a dark brown cor, well opaque. The head is frothy (much), with a quite lasting cord. The aroma is very malty, the best thing of this beer. The flavor is very sweet, is like a burned coffee, with much sugar. This beer is extremely sweet. This is a lager, that is camouflaged with the sugar. It is a good attempt of Ale, but it is not a stout.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Panzerfaust (509) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - JUN 29, 2007
Can, 354 ml
Pours an opaque reddish brown color. Light brown frothy head with medium retention. Solid lacing.
Aroma is malty, roasted with lots of metallic hints (from the can, surely). There are notes of prunes, figs, dates and ther dark fruits. Surprisingly good for a macro.
Flavor is VERY sweet, schwarzbier-like. There are notes of dark fruits, blackberries, sweetened coffee, toasted almonds, grains, honey and brown sugar. Well, not too bad but too extremely sweet for a Stout.
Medium to big body, thick, syrupy texture. Medium carbonation. The finish is sticky but reveals some adjuncty flavor at last. Very sweet aftertaste. It seems more a Lager than an Ale.
