UPDATED: MAR 24, 2013 On cask at Sherlock Holmes in Aarhus. Good Guinness like stout, but like most it doesn’t measure up to the mother of all stouts. It is one of the better ones out there though. A little lighter and thinner than beforementioned queen of the blacks, with more bitterness in the heart of it, and quite buttery in the head. The carbonation is very soft even for this type of beer and the main noteable touch is one of liqourice on both the back of the tongue and in the roof of the mouth. It was quite interesting, and I may be coming back for another round one of these days.

Pours an ink black with cascading tan head. Aroma is of molasses and minerals. Flavor is roasty with an assertive bitter bite. A yeasty fruitiness takes the edge off while contributing a sour tinge. Medium body with an off dry finish.

Good appearance but light flavour and aroma. For a stout, even a dry one, they should be strongers.

Stout abbastanza deludente.

Can from Petit Marche Imazato for 200 yen. It is a nice looking nitro pour that is pitch black in my footed pilsner glass with a thick creamy light beige head. The aroma is a creamy fruity cocoa but has a bit of a medicinal edge to it. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. The taste is similar to the nose, lightly roasty, creamy, a bit of dark bitter malts, again a somewhat malty medicinal edge. OK I guess. Asit warms up you get roasty umami dark chocolate bitterness which edges it up slightly.

Aroma: roasted malts. Appearance: black color, nice head. Taste: low bitterness, roasted dark malts, coffee substitute, quite dry and very watery. Palate: low body and medium carbonation, roasted finish. Overall: Normal beer after job. That’s all.

On tap @ Baran. Looks like it should with a big really creamy nitro head, super lacings also and all this under what appears to be a black body. Sweet roasted nose with traces of vanilla and thin cold coffee. Also a little bit of mint found here as well. Mild but nice nose. It’s quite tasty this. Just like drinking a Guinness really. Creamy roasted with mild chocolate, mild coffee some quite present bitterness and a little bit of sweet caramel pudding. A tad on the sweet side, but easy creamy to drink. I mean, who doesn’t like a creamy nitro stout? 24.01.2014

Draft. Pours black with a big beige head that lingers forever. Aroma of roasts malt. Similar to Guinness, some caramel, some roasted malt, fairly thin.

Wales 2014. Beer no 17. Keg@the penwig, new quay, wales. Black beer with red tints large creamy head and decent lacing. Aroma is faint roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, charcoal and a hint of whisky for some reason unknown. Decent.

On tap. Pours almost black with a one-finger off-white head which takes a while to settle - much like a Guinness. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is mostly of roasted malt, chocolate and lots of coffee and hops. Surprisingly bitter. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
