UPDATED: MAR 24, 2013 On cask at Sherlock Holmes in Aarhus. Good Guinness like stout, but like most it doesn’t measure up to the mother of all stouts. It is one of the better ones out there though. A little lighter and thinner than beforementioned queen of the blacks, with more bitterness in the heart of it, and quite buttery in the head. The carbonation is very soft even for this type of beer and the main noteable touch is one of liqourice on both the back of the tongue and in the roof of the mouth. It was quite interesting, and I may be coming back for another round one of these days.

0.5 draft.
A clear, very dark brown color with a large, lasting, cream-colored, nitro head. A sweet, fruity aroma with an obvious dose of dark malts and some Guinness-like properties - must be the nitrogen. A malty, chocolate flavor with coffee and some lactose on the side; simple. A medium body, a creamy as hell texture, and a flat carbonation. Finish is medium long and bittersweet, overall not a bad beer but not recommended either.

440ml can BB 8/8/16 Lovely roasted malt aroma. Poured black with widget surge and cream head and nice lacing. For a stout this has minimal bitterness and a smooth finish. Bit thin at the back end though.

Tin, 500ml from Tesco in Porthmadog, Gwynedd, Wales. Black with cream head, short lived. This was quite a creamy, fizzed beer, some bitterness, some charcoal hints but also quite a CO2 hit. Just okay for me.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - black pour tan head. Sweet and light roasty malty, milky chocolate, and some caramel sweetness, nice mouthfeel, not as bad as anticipated.

Keg at the Cambrian Arms, Cardiff. Black, slight red hue, big foamy dense tan head. Aroma is chocolatey, roast malt. Body is medium to light, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is pretty chocolatey, semisweet, nice ashy bitterness. Balanced chocolate and ash. Good overall - would pick this over a Guinness.

2015-09-17. Very dark brown body with a large creamy tan head after it eventually settled down. Possibly a nitro pour? 3+ Aroma is mild, lightly toasty dusty roast, whispers of caramel. Flavour is pretty mild up front, light dry dusty toasty roast character that is sort of somewhere between Guinness and Murphys which I suspect is the goal so well done. Touches of cocoa. Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation along with creamy pour suggests nitro, but I don’t know that for sure. On tap at Terra Nova, Cardiff.
