3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Sigmund (3710) - Hafrsfjord, - MAR 1, 2005
Cask conditioned at the Alexandra Hotel ("The Alex"), Derby. Copper coloured, moderate malty and caramel aroma. This is a malty "bitter" in the Welsh style, i.e. with very little actual bitterness, just some dusty hops in the finish. A slight acidity keeps it from being too sweet.

Taste - light caramel malt..some toffee...quite malty...light soft fruits...background of bitter hops...light flavour and nicely balanced
Palate - soft carb...thin body..soft mouthfeel. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Nice, easy drinking quaffable light malt bitter...its a simple beer with subtle flavours but the taste there is pretty good

Beaufort Arms, Kittle. Darkish amber. A malty and tasty session bitter. I could happily quaff beers like this all day long. Pulls well above its strength. Nice one.

Cask, handpump at The Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon Sun 5th Feb 2012 we cycled in the snow and delivered leaflets as we went. Pours amber with white head. decent beer, some sweetness, bizzarely not sure whether the name was suggesting this but I did think a little breadiness, some soft caramel and fruit, not bad at all. 2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 7, 2011
First tasted this in the Hogshead, Paisley in March 1997. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear orange amber in colour with a thin white head. Creamy malt in the short aroma. Thin milk texture in the mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts deliver a digestive biscuit note to the malt base with tart redcurrant fruit evident. Metallic spicy hop resins add a bitter aftertaste. Finish is dry and nutty. An ok session bitter.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (4093) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2011
Cask at The Cleveland Arms. Clear, amber-copper pour with a slight, bubbly head. Doughy malts on the nose with faint, ripe fruits. Pleasant enough flavor, certainly bready with mild, leafy and faintly soapy hops, along with light sugar. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet with hints of alcohol and fermented fruits, more bread, very faint bitterness. Not too bad.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2010
Cask - Thomas Becket, Canterbury. Poured a clear mahogany with a one finger creamy beige head leaving decent lacing. Initial notes of berries and roasty malt tones later developing into creamy toffee and cookie dough malts. Again, quite creamy in terms of flavour with a nice nuttiness and toasty malt tones going on with a mid fruit sweetness. Soft mouthfeel, almost no carbonation with a light fruity bitter finish.

Cask at the Three Mariners, Hythe. Reddish brown with a thin white head; malty aroma; creamy with a malty flavour and some red fruit; dry bready finish. A very straightforward and drinkable bitter.
