COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special.

Captain Cat is a dark chestnut ale brewed in honour of the old sea captain from Under Milk Wood. Captain Cat balances a warming spice flavour from Willamette hops with a fruitiness and a subtle pine freshness from late-hop additions of Simcoe and Cluster. A malty richness rounds this pint off as a great ale. Best paired with hearty meats or rich cheeses.
Captain Cat is available as a guest ale in Mitchells and Butlers pubs until Feb 2013.

Cask at the Dog & Duck, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear, dull brown with a fine, white foam head. Light berries in the nose. Light sweet flavor with toasty bread, light berries, some wood. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Bready malt finish with mellow berry fruits, grapes, light leafy bitterness. A simple bitter overall. Nothing much to excite the senses.

Bottled. Clear, deep gold with a moderately sized, off-white head. Sweet beer, with caramel, bready, slightly earthy, malts and red berries, before a decent bitter finish. So so.

Cask conditioned handpump Scaborough Leeds 05/02/13. A classic brown coloured beer with a white head and lace. a sweet fruity bitter. Grainy in the mouth. Very ordinary. Malts a tad chewy. Boring. I am totally stunned to discover this has Simcoe, Cluster and Willamette. Absolutely no evidence of that in the mouth.
