Cask, Keg & Filtered Bottle; Occasional. Originally released on 18 June 2012.

Created by Simon Martin, aka Mr Real Ale Guide, this is a golden IPA with a hefty aroma of citrus flavours, especially grapefruit. Brewed with a trio of American hops – Zeus, Summit and Cascade, an initial smooth flavour leads to the huge citrus flavour of the hops kicking in towards the end, with oranges and a dry finish becoming apparent.

Bottle shared with Gruber, from Drink! of Fulham. Pours golden with a thick white head which fades quickly. Aroma is malty, caramel, grapefruit and some hops but not very strong. Flavour is bitter but fairly mild. Thin bodied and gentle carbonation.

Mild hoppy IPA balanced bitterness after taste stays. Almost no foam, but color lightly amber. Aroma is gently almost too weak for IPA. Refreshing.

Sweet citrus aroma, very nice and strong. Whit head but goes fast. Medium bitterness, medium sourness, light sweetness. Dry finish.

Bottle, light amber with a fast-settling head, malty nose with touches of lemon marmalade and toast, hoppy and malty palate with floral and toasted citrus notes. Decent example of a transatlantic IPA, though it doesn’t really hit the AIPA target it aims for.

Bought at Morrisons. Slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. Well hopped nose, nice citrus notes. Good zesty palate, fresh clean hops and a nicely balanced malt. Rather nice, could do with being in a bigger bottle tho!

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2014 Bottle at home, bought some time ago at Tesco’s. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber. Quite flat with minimal carb/head. Smells of pilsner malt (?) and faint grassy/grape hop. Taste starts bittersweet with a surprisingly bitter finish. Verdict: like others have said this is not an IPA, but neither is it a standard UK bitter dressing itself up as an IPA. I find it almost reminiscent of an aromatically hopped Vienna Red. Intriguing, and I appreciate Brains pushing the boat out (and what a great name!) but this isn’t for me.

Great tasting, zesty without being sweet. Good hop on the nose even for a filtered bottle. Just needs to be a bigger bottle!☺☺😉

Bottled, 330ml from Morrisons in Banbury. Gold to amber with white head. Basically a malt led beer, caramel, sweetish toffee as a lead, boiled sugars, some boiled vegetable, cauliflower. There is an earthy hop note but quite understated. A little disappointing.

Bottle from local supermarket. Clear amber colour with a decent slightly off white head. Subtle citrus fruit and floral aroma with mild hoppiness. Was expecting more hop given its ’style’. Fairly dry, quite thin body. Left somewhat disappointed.

got a case of 12 bottles on offer for £5 which is a great deal. I think this is a very nice beer with some citrus tastes to it

Bottle Morrisons. Amber beer frothy white head + lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and hops. Taste sharp grapefruit some sweet malts followed by a decent dry hop bitter finish. Good body smooth mouthfeel low carbonation. Good stuff.
