COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Keg & Filtered Bottle; Occasional. Originally released on 18 June 2012.

Created by Simon Martin, aka Mr Real Ale Guide, this is a golden IPA with a hefty aroma of citrus flavours, especially grapefruit. Brewed with a trio of American hops – Zeus, Summit and Cascade, an initial smooth flavour leads to the huge citrus flavour of the hops kicking in towards the end, with oranges and a dry finish becoming apparent.

Bottle. Pale amber beer with a small head. Slight citrus hop aroma. Taste is a little hoppy and some citrus. It describes itself as an American style IPA. I don’t think it gets anywhere near it. If you judge it as it is, its not bad. If you call it an IPA its not good.

Pours a fairly light orange body with a small head that leaves lacing on the glass. Nose has rapeseed and mango along with some pine and citrus notes. Taste is is pretty sweet with a bitter finish that lingers on the palate. Carbonation is on the soft side and the mouthfeel is slick and oily. Decent IPA but could use more hop and less malt character.

Bottle from Morrisons. All the american IPA’s I’ve sampled have big citrus, raisin & pine aromas. Theses hop flavours follow through on the taste. Barry IPA has none of these quilitys. The malt base is far to dominant, unfortunately this is not a sweet biscuity malt but a sharp metallic lingering flavour. A very disappointing brew.

caramel, resin, dough, overly malted, didn’t let any of the hop punch through. Really disappointing. Nice label though.

Bottle in South Shields. Pours Golden with a White head. Lots of malty sweetness with only a hint of any hop character. Light citrus perhaps. Pretty shoddy.

Bottle at KØ14. Mild hop aroma. Clear dark golden colour. Small white head. The flavour is malty, slightly rustic. Has a good hoppiness, not so powerful. Chalky finish.

Bottle at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint however I have this before but clearly not rated from Tesco Extra. A mix of citrus on the nose, orange, lemon and maybe some grapefruit all underpinned with a little biscuity maltiness, a little dry in the finish. Appearance is gold, a little murky and a white head atop. Just about the best tonight. I recall going to Butlins Barry Island when I was a young whippersnapper, great memories. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

This little Welsh beauty is mild on hops and bitterness, but also with a well balanced malt profile, making it a very easy and refreshing drink.
