2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml dark bottle from Morrisons. A soft, clean and drinkable beer. Mildly fragrant and perfumed, but this is a British Golden Ale not an APA. Quite forgettable really, but inoffensive and drinkable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2014 Bottle at home, bought some time ago at Tesco’s. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber. Quite flat with minimal carb/head. Smells of pilsner malt (?) and faint grassy/grape hop. Taste starts bittersweet with a surprisingly bitter finish. Verdict: like others have said this is not an IPA, but neither is it a standard UK bitter dressing itself up as an IPA. I find it almost reminiscent of an aromatically hopped Vienna Red. Intriguing, and I appreciate Brains pushing the boat out (and what a great name!) but this isn’t for me.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Great tasting, zesty without being sweet. Good hop on the nose even for a filtered bottle. Just needs to be a bigger bottle!☺☺😉

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled, 330ml from Morrisons in Banbury. Gold to amber with white head. Basically a malt led beer, caramel, sweetish toffee as a lead, boiled sugars, some boiled vegetable, cauliflower. There is an earthy hop note but quite understated. A little disappointing.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from local supermarket. Clear amber colour with a decent slightly off white head. Subtle citrus fruit and floral aroma with mild hoppiness. Was expecting more hop given its ’style’. Fairly dry, quite thin body. Left somewhat disappointed.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
got a case of 12 bottles on offer for £5 which is a great deal. I think this is a very nice beer with some citrus tastes to it

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml Bottle from Tesco (£1.50):
Caramel with bitter hops and some grass and touches of toffee as well. There is a light hint of butterscotch and some vanilla coming through alongside some citrus but it is the caramel and bitterness that dominate and the rest is quite faint.
Light amber with a few golden tinges and a disappointing looking head that consists of a few tiny white bubbles on top that soon disappears.
Medium bitterness and light, grassy hops come through first alongside some sweetness and vanilla, although both of there are as light as they were on the nose. The beer is finished off with some caramel and further bitterness.
Medium in body with a slightly sticky mouthfeel and some sweetness coming through as well throughout. Carbonation was quite light and there was a bitterness that made itself know from the start.
A beer I was much looking forward to trying based on the ’American IPA’ label but it failed to live up to my expectations for it and wasn’t all that much like an American IPA as I know it. A real disappointment.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Yellow to orange clear beer with a tight but big bubbled head leaving lacing on the glass. The aroma has biscuity malts, berry sweetness and woody dryness. A bit like an ESB. The flavor continues on the same path, adding a hefty amount of bitterness alongside bisquity maltiness and woody dryness. Finish is long with a slight delay before the dry grapefruity bitterness kicks in. Mouthfeel is medium full and slick. Kind of an ESB with American hops.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A very disappointing IPA. The hoppy aroma was more like grass than anything citrusy. The taste was quite malty, grassy, a slight bit of citrus and ends with very mild bitterness. Overall taste is a bit bland without any of the qualities that I look for in this type of beer shining through.
