Rye Catcher is an American Rye beer brewed in collaboration with Glenn Payne. Rye and rye crystal malts provide a spicy malt base and a vibrant copper colour to this beer which is powerfully hopped with Apollo, Columbus, Amarillo and Citra hops from the USA, producing an assertive bitterness with robust flavours of citrus and grapefruit.

Backlog rating. Keg at The Rake tap takeover, London. It pours an amber color with a small tan head. Aroma is yeasty and bready with notes of dried leaves, wet earth, mixed nuts, cedar wood. Taste is mostly sweet and delicate with notes of bread, poppy seeds, rye, spicy yeast and dried red fruits. Finished quite spicy and dry. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, quite tasty

White Hart, Nicholsons. Cask. Clear amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and smooth and a little dry. Modest carbonation. Good marmalade hops, touch of fresh orange. Whispers of lemon and hop spice. Smooth dry finish. Pretty decent if a tad flat.

Cask conditioned at The Grapes, Oxford. Amber with off white head. There is a strong hint of rye bread to this, herby and quite bitter. Counterbalancing slightly is a citric fruity note, some spiciness. For me it was a little unbalanced but still drinkable.

Hand-pulled half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 1st May 2014, one of thirty four hand-pulls available at their beer festival. Red hue to this amber brew, a beige head sat on top. Dry and Rye with something else in the mix: I thought it different and interesting, the guy next to me hated it! Mild citrus notes gave it a extra twist and overall it pleased me, the 5% ABV being well hidden by the flavours and dryness.

Cask conditioned handpump Cambridge London 09/04/14. A reddy brown coloured beer with whitish bubbles. Sharp citrus fruits overdominated by acetic vinegary notes. Something seriously amiss here and quite nasty in truth.
