COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brains Dark Smooth was launched in April 2002 to further strengthen the brand as the definitive dark mild ale in South Wales by making it available in smooth as well as cask and can. It still continues to attract new drinkers and is the biggest selling dark mild in Wales, now with additional availability in bottle and mini-keg. Its excellence is also recognized internationally as a Gold Medal Winner at the 2005 Brewing Industry International Awards. Brains Dark Smooth is a unique product that is easy-drinking and exceptionally smooth.

500ml. from Plonk; it was 4.1% abv. Great nose and taste. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, and hints of liquorice. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is oily, and medium bodied. Black, with a white head.

On tap at the only reasonable pub in Redditch - whose name I’ve forgotten. Lovely drinkable stuff. Chilled, so it’s hard to say exactly how much flavour there would have been anyway, given it’s a Mild. Brown, frothy with an unchallenging choc and roast flavour. Quite OK.

On Tap at the Stanley Arms, Holyhead 24/08/2008 Some roast aroma. Beige head. Dark smooth on the palate and slightly fruity with a crisp dry roast finish.
