SaintMatty (480), Tallinn, Estonia Sep 3, 2008 Cask (Goat Major,Cardiff) - Very dark, almost black in colour with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with a hint of coffee. Smooth tasting with coffee and a hint of plain chocolate. A decent mild. Doppelganger (1123), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Aug 23, 2008 Bottled at 4.1%. Dark brown pour, good layer of rough tan bubbles. Cheerios® aroma, caramel, a bit of milk chocolate. Straightforward mineral chocolate roast, sweet, but not sticky. Enough body to be pleasantly soft, but still very drinkable. Some of the subtly of a a good cask mild is lost, but this is very respectable in a way that most bottled milds aren’t. I dig. Sigmund (1938), Hafrsfjord, Norway Aug 16, 2008 Cask conditioned (hand pump) at the Brains bar at the GBBF 2008. Black colour, dark brown in the highlights. Moderate tan head. Moderate roasty aroma, notes of malts and chocolate. The flavour is moderately roasty with a slight acidity. azlondon (485), Greater London, England Aug 8, 2008 Cask@GBBF.
