"A blend of dark and chocolate malts, gives this dark mild a full flavour. The beer has a delicate hop and chocolate aroma while the palate starts malty with a slight nuttiness, but then gives way to a light dry finish."

Bottle conditioned, part of the Great British Beers gift pack available in Tesco’s. Jet black, good cream-beige head and moderate head. Pleasant roast barley and chocolate aromas, good nutty and roast malt notes in the mouth and a sweet chalky finish with lots of lingering roast coffee and chocolate.

Well, my first real mild and I was suprisingly impressed. Better than the SA IMO. Poured a nice dark brown/black with a short lasting tan head. Simple malty aroma with a touch of roast. Flavour was sweet & fruity, though bitter enough in the finish to keep it balanced. Mouthfeel smooth medium-thin. Not bad!

Cask@Red Lion BF, Isleworth, London. Pretty simple dark mild, but i thought this was quite solid, and very drinkable. Caramel, toffee, with some subtle roast and chocolate, slight hints of apple and grape, finish, is dry-ish and a bit salty, not bad.

Very rich dark brown/red colour. I found this more of a soft fruity mild - with lots of berry fruit and plummy notes - than a dry malty one. There’s a bit of chocolate in the flavour. Not a lot of body, but that’s not a problem in this type of mild. Soft, dry finish. Rather nice. Make sure you get the cask version - it is often found in the keg "smooth" version in Welsh pubs. Cask (gravity), Red Lion Beer Festival, Isleworth.

Standard looking dark beer with a dry and quite sour aroma and a watery flavour. Overall quite a plain watery mild.

Can - A deep chocolate malt aroma. Nice dark brown color. Coffee malt flavor with only slight chocolate and slight sweetness. Pretty good stuff.

Mild alright, but like a softspoken gent. There’s a lot running under the surface. Woody for sure and a bit of chocolate. Goes down rather easily. With the ABV, this being a session would be a good choice.

Gazza (726) - Worcester, Worcestershire, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2004
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2007 Used to be a classic beer, now it’s still pretty good if you can find it in “real” form. A rich chocolatey nose and flavour with some balancing dryness in the finish best describes this rather plain but very drinkable deep brown beer. It has a growing complexity with tarry, liquoricey and fruiit notes but all in balance with the chocolate malt taste; one of the best "proper" milds left. (cask in the Otley Arms, Treforest)

Jet black hue with a creamy light bron head. Rich chocolate malt, coffee and nut aroma. Still coffee and roasted malt taste. Slightly watery a pretty standard mild.
