COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled; Regular.

Once called Red Dragon the famous pint of Dark has always been synonymous with Brains particularly in Cardiff with the dock-workers of old, the male voice choirs and with rugby fans down in the Arms Park. Nowadays its popularity has expanded and it is the biggest selling dark milk in Wales, continually winning awards both nationally and internationally.
‘Dark’ is treacle-coloured with a creamy contrasting head and brewed using chocolate malt, providing a clean palate with hints of liquorice and fresh ground coffee.
The intense flavour of Brains Dark goes well with pork and chocolate puddings.

I liked this. Lovely dark colour with smooth cream head. Medium bodied, toasted malts with hints of chocolate and hazelnut. Short crisp finish.

Bottle 4.1%. Deep dark colour though that is to be expected. Hints of chocolate make this very easy to drink.

McWorta (594) - LUXEMBOURG - OCT 26, 2012
Lovely black, dark ruby sirup colour with a lovely tan head. On the nose it develops mainly barnyards, earth aromas with some bitter chocolate notes. Light fizzy, surprisingly medium bodied, with bitter notes and some sweetness coming through. Dry notes as well. Light, thin texture. The finish is at first lingering for a while but then becomes dry and rather short. Pretty good welsh beer.

Dark brown, almost black. Clear. Has an off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is sweet and malty, notes of caramel and some roasted notes too. Flavor starts moderate sweet, more roasted notes, light bitter finish. Creamy texture and soft carbonation.

[500ml bottle at EBBC12] Black pour, almost no head. Thin scuddy lacing around the glass. Styrian Goldings in this, but they take a back seat so much it’s like they’re in the car behind. Thick molasses on the nose, more sweet molasses and coffee on the flavour. Ashen finish. Mouthfeel pretty good for a dark mild – smooth, and with plenty of flavour [19052012]

500 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a beigeish head. Aroma of roasted malts and milk chocolate. Mild flavour of roasted malts, milk chocolate, hops and some sweet English toffee. Light bodied, very smooth mouthfeel and a roasty, chocolatey finish. A really smooth and mild beer, yet packed with flavour.
