3. Cask Handpump at the Penny Black, Northwich 18/05/2003
Amber golden coloured and slightly fruity. Lasting malt and hop finish. Pub (4119), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jan 28, 2004 Cask Conditioned at The Commercial Hotel, Gowerton, Glamorgan. Pale golden beer with soft head. Light but fuller bodied golden ale with a soft tangy fruitiness. A sharper note, dryer and tangy towards the finish. Nuffield (2541), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jul 17, 2003 Maintained a vibrant, soft, white head on a golden body. The head lasted a very long time. Fruity frontside, plain "lager" flavors later. Smooth palate but slightly watery. Generally a quick finish. Drinkable session beer despite its weaknesses. The pump clip talked about how one man in the Brains family is the only person to have stumped three batsmen in a row (in a first-class match, I believe) for a hat trick, this occuring in the 19th century I think. (on tap, Hobgoblin, Oxford)
