JDW Spring Fest - Rochester. A very drinkable and attractive ale. Caramel notes. Good juicy residual sweetness. This is a lovely malt character with a nicely balanced and well integrated hop character. A bit jammy, and OK for it. Blackberry and black cherry notes. Lovely. I could drink this stuff all day.

Cask-conditioned at the Globe, Frampton Cotterell, S Gloucestershire 06/09/09. Inviting, clear amber in colour with a billowy white head that left rings down the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, apricots and a touch of hay. Flavour of biscuit malt, with a trace of citrus and decent dry finish. Good.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Straw with a ring of white head; fruity aroma; light dry fruity flavour; with light spicy hops giving a dry finish. A simple, straightforward, honest, bitter.

[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Toffee and fruity malt with just the right amount of bitterness. Nothing unusual here, but Brains do seem to do these sort of ales very well - good stuff!

The name is nice and compromising. Had it from a tap and it was nice to drink, a little too bitte rfor my taste but very well-brewed.

Cask (handpump) at the Museum Tavern, Bloomsbury, August 2009. I think this was probably a special but I’m not entirely sure. Attractive rich amber colour. Thin but lasting head. Pleasant and fruity. Straightforward but tasty enough. I’m not usually a big fan of Brains beers but I enjoyed this more than most of the standard Brains fare.

Clear amber beer. Semi dry palate. Sweetish malt with a pleasing amount of banana ester. Liptons peach tea malts! Finishes dry and a little floral.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Eastgate Northampton. A golden coloured beer with a loose off-white bubbly head. Grassy in the nose and mouth but with a high level of bitterness. Straightforward but drinkable enough.
