2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
2nd April 2015: hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Clear amber pour with a white head. Bland and boring with just about enough hops to make you think it might have been hoppy before they watered it down to 3.4% ABV. Refreshing but not something I would recommend or offer to friends.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask @ Crown & Kettle, Manchester. Clear copper with a small glow. Has a nice easy drinking texture, but a touch thin tasting with its low abv. However it maintains a healthy nose and taste with hops in the former, and both hops and malt in the latter aspect. There’s a sweetness evident in its nose and to a lesser extent in its taste.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at the Three Guineas, Reading. Pretty decent, given the APV. An amber bitter, with a citrus aroma, and a lengthy bitter finish. Not one to linger over, but refreshing and well made.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught. This is a not so impressive bitter that is widely available in the UK. I would not seek it out but if its whats on offer its drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at the Cricketers Arms, Bedford. Amber with a full white head. Faint but fresh aroma of pale malt and light citrus. A pronounced maltiness in the sweet taste. Just a hint of sweet-sour in the finish. Not a medal winner on any day of the week but much better than I expected... and it beats Brains Bitter any day.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear golden with smooth solid white lacing foam head. Fun to watch the beer settle. Not too much of an aroma, little hoppy. Does not taste like an IPA, a bitter indeed. Nice beer though. (Cardiff 201312)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice soft head. Smell of an unaired closed-up summerhouse. Less like an IPA and more like a traditional English Pub-ale. The hoppiness is not as apparent as usually is the case with an IPA. Anyway - a very enjoyable ale that I’d like to drink again.

Cask@waggonandhorses, oldbury. Amber beer with large creamy head and good lacing. Looks good. Aroma of faint malts. Taste is malts and a touch of caramel. Thin body. Easy to drink, plain bitter.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask @ The Hop Poles, because I’m a masochist. The pour’s medium gold with a small head. The aroma’s white bread, carmel, and far. The taste is more of the same. Weak tea, some caramel. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, this is a bit like a shark sandwich, you know?
