Cask at GBBF 2012. Poured black, with a dense beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, treacle and liquorice. Molasses in the flavour, with some coffee and dark fruit. Medium to full mouth feel. Finish was slightly earthy and not too lingering, with a little bit of burnt malt.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2012, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.
Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, strong coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark roasted, coffee, burnt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Really wanted to like this but if you’ve ever tasted a decent oatmeal stout you’ll be shocked that this is claimed to be one. Tastes like an oatmeal stout mixed 50/50 with sparkling water. Lacking aroma (although I got mostly coffee) and taste is bland. Oh and its super fizzy. Meh.

Blackfriar, Blackfriars 30 Okt 12. Nicholson Festivaløl. Dyp amber. Nesten svart. Lysebrunt skum som fester seg bra til glasset. Svak aroma. Smaken anonym med en svakt syrlig ettersmak.

Light and easy to drink. Lots of chocolate malt. Carbonation lifting everything. Nice warm toasted malt aftertaste.

Full pint, from cask at The Blackfriar pub. Good looking with a lasting, tan-coloured head leaving firm lacing behind. Dark coloured body with a deep ruby tint. Dark malty aroma added by resin. Roasted dark chocolate flavour mixed with resinous hops. Dry malty bitter round off. Easy to drink and easy to like (London on Halloween 2012).

Cask - The Black Bull, Donington. Poured a deep, opaque brown with a lasting, creamy & lacy one-finger light tan head. Good dark fruits, liquorice, roasted malt & coffee qualities with a subtle underlying yeasty dampness coming through, particularly on the tongue. Soft mouthfeel, light to medium body with a lingering, dryish malt finish.

The head was good, the body black. It smells roasty, chocolate. The taste is roasty, malty, a good Stout, but a mild one. Overall good. 10/10/10/10/-/10

Very dark brown black, ruby edges, nice creamy rich tan head
Aroma - very soft roast malts, hint of light coffee
Taste - sweet dark roast malts, very light coffee, smooth, some molasses, simple easy quite tasty stout
Palate - soft carb, medium body. Not much of a finish though
Overall - Although simple, for a lower abv stout it was quite decent
