COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask.;
This seasonal beer celebrates the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and his maxim ‘live, love and drink beer’. The use of rye crystal and malted oats creates a russet-red colour. The smooth toffee flavour is poetically balanced by a crisp hop bitterness.

Bottel from Tesco, Penarth on 21.08. Deep red colour, clear, with thin slightly off-white head. Aroma is broadly caramel malts: toffee, some dark fruits, perhaps sherry. Almost whiskey-like. Taste has a consistent bitterness throughout, again toffee but with more roasted character.

Cask from The Antelope, Rhydymwyn. Pours a clear light brown colour with a nice one finger thick off-white head. Aroma is nutty and malty, with hints of bread and slight fruit. Taste is okay, the nuttiness dominates the flavour, malt is good but nothing fantastic. Feels quite heavy in the mouth; probably couldn’t have more than two of these without it really sitting in my gut. Aroma is better than the taste.

Hard to see the link to Dylan Thomas, but it’s malty flavours are interesting, but passable.
