Brains Bitter is one of the longest-standing mainstays of our beer range and is our biggest selling cask ale with 12 pint sold each minute. Its easy drinking style has repeatedly proven popular with the cask ale customer as testified by the numerous awards won, most notably being the only Welsh winner in the Telegraph Best of British Beer Awards 2007.
The famous ‘pint of Brains’ is rich amber coloured, well balanced and refreshing. Goldings and Fuggles hops from The Welsh Marches create an appetising crisp aroma to complement the subtle flavour of fine pale malt. Crystal clear water combines with the unique Brains yeast to create the complete Welsh beer experience.

Bottle. Amber colour, thin white head. Very little on the nose, sweetish malt flavours, little in the way of hops. Thin and watery, not up to much at all!

Lovely caramel aroma and a golden honey amber colour. What an ale should look like. Mild hoppy and bitter tasting with caramel undertones. Lingers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Sweet biscuit malt aromas, light metallic tang. Taste has a sweet finish and faint hops, but not much going on. Pretty watery.

Out of date bottle from B&M but still fine. Copper-golden and not much head. It has a very small sweetness and a medium bitterness at best.

Bottled 05/10/13. An amber coloured beer with a whitish head. A malty old fashioned bitter. A bit of a tinny aroma with some fruit in the mouth. Dry raisin. Obvious pasteurisation, It’s OK.

Bottle from B&M. Pale amber ale with good foamy white head. Slight floral citrus aroma. Refreshing and easy drinking, but lacking any complexity. To be expected for the strength.

From B&M Hinckley. Clear bronze slicked with white. Decent aroma with caramel-draped fig and raisin. Similar chewy dried fruit, watery toffee and cereal flavour. Specks of aniseed/Allsorts as from so many brown regional bitters. Humdrum but perfectly pleasant.

500ml Bottle:BBD 31 Oct 2013, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 7 Sep 2013. Looked good, nice golden amber hue to the beer, on top a full and lasting off-white crown. The nose seemed more malty than hoppy, as did the taste: a good blend and well balanced in both aroma and flavour. Semi-sweet lead with a mild hop bitterness at the finish. Easy drinking brew with enough taste to interest.
