Smells of toasted malt and milk. Pretty much black. Milky initial flavours. Toasted oaty flavour. Burnt notes. Bit of alcohol there too. Hint acrid. It’s not bad.

Pitch black coloured beer with a weak creamy coloured head. Rich nutty aroma, coffee, burnt sugar, dark chocolate and roast malt. Full, but dry mouthfeel. Bittersweet taste, all the elements from the aroma appear again, especially the coffee and malt, there is a hint of nuttiness that is matched with a thick dark fruit flavour. The bitterness lasts right through to the finish.

Absolutely no head on this. Looks flat, tastes burnt. Normal stout aroma, but tastes like wood smoke, peat. Mouthfeel is watery. I was expecting more...

I was impressed and surprised with the very smokey base underneath the chocolate flavours. It’s not as heavy as typical Belgian or American stouts but if you want a dark and not to heavy beer this is a worth a try.

Bottle at home in London. Pours red-brown with a frothy, beige head. Some lacto notes in the nose and very modest roast. Lightly sweet flavor, lightly roasty, some dark sugar, faint dirt and minerals, mild cocoa. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, slightly dry, with a bit of milk chocolate, baking cocoa, modest roasted malts, some burnt wood, light earth. Pretty bland overall, though not offensive.
