Cask, handpump at The Rock of Gibraltar, Enslow, Oxfordshire, 01.01.11 Pours brown with a slim white head. Mmmhhh, fairly standard boring brown bitter, medium bitterness, bit fruity, caramel, lacking in hoppiness, really boring I’m afraid. A6 A3 T5 P3 Ov11 2.8

Cask @ The Bon Accord. Chocolate toffee malt aroma. Mahogany brown colour. Sour grassy chocolate malt flavour with a hint of aniseed. Not great.

Cask-conditioned at the Eldon, Bristol 13/01/09. Deep amber in colour with a decent off-white head. Sweetish malts, with some red fruit and hard to place spiciness. Not much of a finish to this forgettable beer.

Cask at the Duke of Wellington, Norwich, "Boxing Day Expedition" crawl, 26th Dec 08. Dark amber with a little line of head. Malty, smooth on the tongue. Rather heavy and flat palate doesn’t help. Some fruitiness but no balance. Caramel is the only aroma. Past its sell-by-date?

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton An amber coloured beer with no head. The aroma is wet muddle and earthy malt. Not exactly inviting. Some slight fruit in the taste, together with a repetition of all the goodness of the nose. Poor

Cask handpump at The White Horse, Harborne, Birmingham. Brown with a good head. Slightly malty toffee scent. Some carbonation. Thick and sticky mouthfeel. Syrup and honey in the aroma, then a sour caramel. OK.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark copper amber. Sweet, slightly floral aroma. Rather thin sour taste with a little bitterness creeping in. A bit dull for its name and for the jazzy pumpclip.
