SA Gold is a full-flavoured, hoppy and refreshing golden ale, brewed at the home of the famous Brains SA in Wales. Careful use of Target hops creates a satisfying bitterness, perfectly balanced by vibrant citrus aromas and complex hop flavours from late-hopping using Cascade and Styrian Goldings. A deliciously satisfying and refreshing pint!

500ml bottle. Aroma was simple - hops. Nothing else. Tastes extremely hoppy but the after taste is slightly metallic.

Great colour and nice aroma. I think this is likely as session ale. Mild flavours of hop and vague citrus.

Deep malts and hops in the taste, aroma and flavours which gives it plenty of character.

Pours golden-amber, with a very thin foam head. Aromas of cereals, honey and a hint of citrus. Some metallic notes. Not very intense nose. Very refreshing but carbonation is too artificial, fizzy. Taste is great.

Bottle (500ml from Londis, Newcastle):
Biscuit like hops and some light malts along with an earthy hop aroma and a sweet, clean smell that is slightly yeasty but quite light overall and a touch skunky.
Light golden colour as the name would suggest and topped with a large, creamy looking head to begin with before turning bubbly white head that has pretty good retention and only slowly reduces in size over the course of a few minutes.
Light and malty with some sweetness and a nice helping of hops following this as well as a slightly biscuit and some grassy hops. Nothing too exciting but a solid and enjoyable taste and one that was fairly easy to drink.
Smooth and medium bodied with a malty, earthy base and low carbonation with a very slightly dry finish.

Standard fair for a golden ale, a little more malty than usual perhaps but nothing out of character for the style and nothing to exciting but still an interesting enough beer and one that is worth a try.
