SA Gold is a full-flavoured, hoppy and refreshing golden ale, brewed at the home of the famous Brains SA in Wales. Careful use of Target hops creates a satisfying bitterness, perfectly balanced by vibrant citrus aromas and complex hop flavours from late-hopping using Cascade and Styrian Goldings. A deliciously satisfying and refreshing pint!

Dość smaczny ale z Walii. Kolor jasno złoty z bogatą pianą. Smak słodowy i trawiasty. Zapach chmielowy

Very nice golden ale, nice colour and well hopped, possibly the perfect summer beer

I could have sworn I had already rated this, but anyway. 500ml bottle from Waitrose served cool. Golden ale with a dense but receding white head. Floral aroma, tangy citrus flavour. Particularly good balance between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. I had the impression that there had been some careful tastings and adjustings of the recipe before unleashing it on the public. Sometimes I think brewers listen to market research too much, and respond accordingly. I’d love to think someone followed their heart and palate in this case, lovely beer.

(Bottled) Huge hoppy scent from far away. Looks golden and without much body. Poured well with a decent foamy head. Thin and over carbonated. Bitter but not overly so and without a dry end. Slightly metallic hint right on the end. Tastes include oranges, peaches, hops and some biscuit malts. Nice.

Light blond colour with light foamy head. Massive aroma of fresh, citrusy hops. Clean, refreshing beer with a nice floral hop flavour and a slightly dry, bitter finish.

50 cl bottle from a supermarket in Swansea. It pours a clear golden liquid with a medium and consistent white head that diminishes but leaves a nice lacing. The aroma has grassy and floral hops, as well as citron. It is very refreshing, with a hoppy character and little malt presence. There might be some ripe banana hint. It is a little sweet and tart, being basically bitter but less than an IPA. Softly carbonated, it ends very dry and leaves a pleasant non-astringent hoppy aftertaste. It feels a little watery in the mouth, though. Cool beer for summer; very nice and refreshing flavour. Also good presentation (bottle and crown cap).

500ml bottle from Asda, Cardiff. A deep straw coloured body with a loose white head; quite heavy carbonation; intense aroma of hops; strong hop flavours as well; and a clean dry finish with a trace of honey.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2009 50cl bottle. Hazy pale golden colour, medium white head that collapses quickly leaves some lacing. Fruity aroma of ripe oranges and lime (i.e. citric hops). Very low carbonation, smooth, oily mouthfeel. Taste is rather on the sweet side, citrus fruit with a hint of bananas. Refreshing but smooth hoppy finish. Very likeable, robust pale ale, though IPA-devotees should look elsewhere for more prominent bitter notes. Would drink again!
