COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Young Rev. is named after the hardheaded son of Reverend James Buckley, who married the daughter of Buckleys brewery’s founder. Brewed in the traditional way with a combination of Challenger, Golding and Fuggles hops, it’s well balanced with nutty overtones for easy drinking.

Super honey aroma. But it’s dull and musty too. Passable bitter, but very dull.

Cask at Wee Howff, Paisley (6 Jan 12) - pours pale copper with a small head, very slight hint of nut in the flavour, smooth to drink and could make a reasonable session beer.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 3. Red-gold pour with a small, white head. A very basic bitter with a sweet, malty character. Some light notes of caramel, leaves and nuts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild sweet finish. Pretty easygoing stuff.

Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 3, on 4 August 2011. Don’t know whether this is a one-off, a trial brew, a new seasonal or what as Brains don’t seem to make any mention of it on their website. Whatever it is, there’s not really too much going on here. A sweet, rather malty bitter with some nutty and caramel notes and not too much in the way of hop presence. Smooth mouthfeel. On the plus side, it looks pretty good - clear, bright copper colour with a tight, lasting white head. But there wasn’t really anything to hold my attention and, to be honest, it’s not really my type of beer. Acceptable but a bit dull.
