COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Brewed for Wetherspoons International Beer Festival ;
In 2007, Brains’ head brewer developed ten beers, with a tasting held with CAMRA to select the best one. This ruby-red seasonal ale, with its distinctive spicy, aromatic character, complemented by a gentle, oaky flavour, is the result. Hops used: Fuggles, Goldings

Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2008. Clear ruby red in colour with a creamy buff head. Interesting dusty confectionary aroma of pink prawn sweets. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt complex gives a malty digestive biscuit note with a curious Bazooka Joe bubblegum flavour through it. Tang of metallic tasting spicy hops in the short bitter aftertaste. A dry woody oak note in the vinous finish. An unusual tasting bitter for the real ale listers out there.

4th November 2008. Clear brown beer, small white head. Tangy malt and fruit. Caramel, orange and a trace of grapefruit. Gives way to a dry finish where cinnamon, banana and bubblegum notes make themselves known at the very end.

Beautiful amber color, thin creamy head. Quite simple Bitter, the caramel flavor shows also a soapy side, light apples and very light cookie touch. Correct bitterness. Easy.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2009 Cask at Pilgrim’s Progress (JDW) in Wetherspoons BF ’08. Dark copper. Off white head that left the glass two centimetres short when it subsided. Sweet, honeyed malt aroma and sweet pear drop taste. Mid bitter finish. Didn’t really like this. While the separate elements were promising, the final result was somehow unsatisfactory. 15.11.09. Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Faint malt aroma intensifying. Nutty malt taste with a hint of cocoa powder, quite pleasant. Rated 6,4,6,4,11:3.1

A Mes rate: cask at the Crosse Keys ’Sporks.
A good looking very dark copper colour with a thin off white head. Sweet as hell marzipan dominates. Some milky chocolate notes and a slight chalky feel.
