Pours a bark brown/copper colour with a foamy head. Aromas of malty sweetness, dried fruits, raisin. Taste is quite complex for the abv- bitterness, with a bready, malty backbone, plenty of raisin and fruits. Very good example of the style.

TET (1434) - FINLAND - JAN 31, 2014
A coppery beer with an almost medium and blond head. The nose of strong toffee and sweetness, red berries, also some dry wood. Taste of nuts and toffee, dryer than aroma, some fruits and wood. Almost medium bodied with medium carbonation, nicely smooth to drink. Quite dry end. Nice beer, traditional bitter but fluent to drink and not musty.

Bottle at Christmas. It's a really decent traditional bitter with nice busy orangy aroma and palate. Lighter and fizzier than it appears, and perhaps more than would be ideal. I've had loads of dodgy cask pints of this, and the bottle is far more reliable, if a little misleading.

gegwilson (621) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle courtesy of Dan. Pours amber with a white head. A bit of a soapy citrius hop lavour dominates. This has too much of a watery feel and is below par for me.

Philym (692) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2013
Appearance: Clear amber/copper with 2 finger thick white head. Aroma: Biscuit, pepper, grassy/hay and nutty. Taste: Medium bitterness, low sweet and sourness. Palate: Thick coarse texture, light body, average carbonation, astringent abrupt malty and peppery, nutty finish. Comments: Tasty and glass lace.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium head. Smell of caramel, honey and floral hops. Taste - same as the nose, mild bitterness, clean dry finish. Medium body, soft and smooth. Quaffable.

johndoughty (3716) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - AUG 24, 2013
Bottle. Bronze with a small head. Slightly nutty with considerably more body than you would expect for its strength. Dry finish and definitely a value for money bitter.

0.5l bottle. Pours amber with a foamy white head. Aroma of caramel malts. Slightly sweet burnt caramel taste, not particularly bitter. A quaffable, but uninspiring beer
