3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - DEC 13, 2002
Clear golden body, small soapy head receding fast, smells like English hops and sweet malt. Sweet malty start with a slightly bitter finish. Reasonably good, but not necessarily something I’d buy again, mostly because the style isn’t a favorite of mine.

Just what you’d expect from a bitter: not too out there, nice flavor, but nothing terribly special, either.

Simple, not unpleasant. Some nice bitterness but not enough. Looks and tastes watery.

Clear orange-pale; Very faint head; Pretty clean nose. Very mild. Hops are out of balance- not overpowering, just not balanced with any malt.

Beer Markt 2002 OCT, aroma of peach and other fruits. Dark brew some head, not to impressive on look. Taste was bitter, bitter with pleasant fresh aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 neilrichards (191) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 26, 2002
Decent English standard bitter. I’m finding it harder to find different ways to describe English bitters - but this ones pretty good.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 argo0 (9222) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 1, 2002
Good balance between hops and malts. Soft bitter body, mild with greater bitterness in the aftertaste. Very pleasant lighter bitter.

Only 3.4% alcohol! This is my first Brakspear brew, but the brewery is already making a big impression on me. I love the quote on the label that says ’in three floors of fermenting rooms, yeast silently does our bidding.’ Oh yes, how it does! A mild bitterness pervades, but doesn’t overwhelm. I couldn’t taste any alcohol - no surprise there.

I took everyone’s advice and tasted it cold and at room temp. Preferred it warmer as I was told I would although this style of beer does not suit my tastes.
