Bottle from Sainsburyís. Cheap in a special offer and I was hoping to find a gem but didnít drink more than a few mouthfuls. Just not my cup of tea - thin and watery, overly bitter given its little complexity, doesnít sit well in the stomach. Nice amber colour and acceptable nose. Processed and artifical aftertaste. Glad to have tried any beer but wonít buy again.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear amber, with a halo of off white head. Aroma of caramel, peal and boiled sweets. Oranges in the flavour, with some light grassy hop and grain. Finish was berries, copper and brown sugar.

LCBO sample pack 3.4% ABV, pours an opaquish tan red hue color, medium head, some carbonation. Aroma is tea like, some bready notes, taste is not enjoyable almost like tea as mentioned, I get smooth texture with some bitter then an abrupt finish that puts a scowl on my face. This is the worst beer so far of my sample pack two left. I would not drink this again.

Pours clear pale amber with a one finger of light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is caramel malt, earthy hops, maybe a little black tea. (5/10) Taste is mild sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Medium body, low carbonation, building bitter finish. (3/5) Yet another variation on the Marstonís theme, another one that tastes marginally better than it smells. Itís not bad at all, but I canít say Iíd be inclined to make much effort to find another one. Glad that kills the six pack. (10/20)

If you like water, malt & boiled celery then this is YOUR beer. If not, like me - & many others below me - you will be disappointed that you threw money down on this. I got some other words for this beer: bland, boring, not so tasty. Avoid.

Pours a nice brown copper with a small white ring. Aroma is earthy malts, sweet caramel and slight metallic. Taste starts out earthy and sweet caramel malts, small bitterness but ends with a weird grassy and another off flavour that just turns me.

Amber pour with a finger of head. Bready malty aroma, slight spices and a touch bitter. Taste... Bread, caramel, english hops in the background. Best of the brit pack so far. Medium body and easy drinking.

Deep amber coloured pour with a thick white head. The nose is slightly spicy and a little bit fruity. Nice Maris Otter base if a little bit light in intensity. A touch of orange peel and some nice earthy spiciness. There is a little bit of toffee as well. Has a decent balance. Itís pretty good really.

500 ml bottle in a mixed pack from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep copper with a decent light tan head. Aroma: Black tea, a little Bergamot-like floral note, very earthy, British malts, woodsy and a touch herbal. Palate: Medium body, moderate+ carbonation. Flav.: Very stern/British malt with some black tea-like flavour, a bit of wet cardboard, a little peppery; dry with fairly good bitterness and a long, stern, British malt finish.

Not for me.
