3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 chriso (7063) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 7, 2004
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2006 Currently brewed at Burtonwood, of course, although the rebuilt Brakspear plant should be back online before too long. Despite being transplanted from its spiritual home, this is still a perfectly respectable copper coloured supping bitter with an intense bitter hop attack, but a hint of fruit and malt to compensate. Very dry finish. Handpump, Uxbridge Arms, Notting Hill Gate, London. (3.0)
RE-RATE. August 2006, handpump at The Colonies, Westminster. The return to Oxfordshire seems to have pepped this beer up and this was a lovely pint of "ordinary" bitter in cracking condition. Lots of fruit, bags of bitterness, soft underlying malt and just a hint of "Burton snatch" type sulphur on the nose. A very welcome surprise.

Cask conditioned at The Stags Head, Swalcliffe, Oxon. Amber with white head. Great quaffing bitter with slightly pungent eggy notes in the aroma. Dry and bitter throughout. Marvellous beer for a long nights drinking.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 piscator34 (1644) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 23, 2007
cask @ The Eagle and Child, Oxford. Copper in colour with well balanced aromas of earthy and floral hops, light malt, and just a touch of fruit. In the mouth, the lightly tangy hops play well against the delicate yet focused malt profile. Moderately bitter, and light bodied without being overly thin. Thirst quenching.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 AshtonMcCobb (931) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 20, 2011
From the tap at the Meadow, Coalbrookdale, Shropshire. Pours amber with a red hue. It has a decent head. The nose has toffee and raisins. The taste has grapes, then some toffee, but there is a clean appley finish. The palate has a medium structure and texture, despite the low alcohol and there is a clean finish. Overall, a tastey ale at session strength.

Cask @ THE WHARF.- Superb example of a low alcohol beer, with loads of caracter, but first and foremost superbly brewed.
-Malty backround with a clean and caracteristic longlasting bitterness.

Good condition. Light sweet finish with toasty malts, leafy bitterness, light dry grass and dirt, and mild caramel. Very solid, classic bitter.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hbie (133) - Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2005 Cask at local club. Nothing like the beer that was brewed at Henley alas the brewery was closed down last year and this beer is brewed under contract, hopefully when the brewing is moved back to Oxfordshire in June 2004 it will return to its former self. This used to be one of my favourite bitters and would have received a overall rating of 18.
This beer has returned to Oxfordshire and is almost back to its former self.
