3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 nigos (623) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2003
Pours to a deep copper colour with quickly dispersing head. Has floating bits of live yeast that settle in the bottom of the glass. Has a mildy earthy taste with a good hoppy body and hints of yeast. Yeast flavour comes though more as you drink it at the end of the drink. A beer of good character. Certainly the best organic beer I have tasted to date...

Apples and malt aroma, deep amber, large vanilla head, and a few floaties. Fine malt flavour, followed by good bitterness. Fruity and dry, nicely bitter. Very good flavour for an Organic.

Light amber hue. Fruity aroma. Smooth and pleasant, malts first, light fruit, light to medium bodied, herbal, clean dry finish. Very nice.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 13, 2002
UPDATED: SEP 29, 2008 Golden-orange with some haze. Lemon, marmalade, seabreezy malts on the nose. Light malt palate, a little mushroomy with some of that lemony note and a tiny bit off bitterness. But otherwise a fairly dull palate after a decent aroma. Earlier rating 9/22/02: Bright orange; slight berry aroma, with leafy hops. The palate is quite yeasty, with husky malt flavours like the taste of spent grains (with crystal malt showing prominently). Very fresh tasting. Sharp bitterness throughout turns slightly astringent as it gets yeastier towards the finish. 7-4-7-3-14=3.5 Earlier Rating: 1/28/2002 Total Score: 3.9 Bright copper, no head; striking English hop nose w/ biscuity malt, peaches, earthy - kind of rustic aroma. Smooth palate, wonderfully extracted malts glide over the tongue. Peaches, sugared pears, growing into sweeter malts and then finishing just dry enough to make it work. A subtle, well-structured ale that shows what English brewing can do.

orangy coloured. yeast floats to the bottom of the glass rather than make this beer cloudy. sweet and sour tasting with some sharp hops. not bad at all.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - AUG 23, 2002
Bottle Conditioned. Pours to a rather large, quickly dissipating head. Not much in the way of aroma, faintly hoppy and grassy. Slight sharp, bitter taste. I am beginning to dislike Goldings hops, especially in bottled beer where they seem to impart a unpleasant sourness.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 daboskabouter (1470) - Fergus, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 14, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 17, 2007 Spicey, perfumey nose, possibly a hint of mint - leafy and fruity. The body is big with sweet brown sugary malt and leafy hops. A great bitterness in the finish whirls around the mouth with some malt following it around. What a great, well-rounded and complex organic beer!

RateBeer Summer (Toronto) ’02: Soft flat palate. Complex malts combine well with the hops. I wish that I had a whole bottle instead of just a sample of this one.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jonas (4588) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - MAY 30, 2002
UPDATED: JUL 31, 2008 Old rating 10 4 9 3 18:Dont let the designed bottle fool you, this beer is terrific! A motherload of hops in the nose, a nice amber color and a citrusy hop taste to back the aroma up. The palate is fresh and enjoyable and the hops linger on some time after you took the last sip.
Re-rate:
Cloudy amber, low head. English hop nose. cookie malt, good hops to balance.
Fruity. Not nearly as good as last time, weird.
