"The Oxfordshire Beer"
Previously sub-titled "Organic Beer"
Ingredients: Pale & Crystal malts; Styrian Golding, Golding, Fuggle and Admiral hops
Brakspear Oxford Gold is a remarkably zesty brew, with fresh, citrussy aromas and a firm, fruity flavour. Pale ale malts provide the beer with its gold-gilt shimmer, spruced by a hatful of crystal malts to give body, texture and a delicate honey’d wrap.

Bottle. A - Clear, golden-orange bronze color and a lot of bubbles with a large, fluffy, foamy, creamy white head with great retention settling into a thick creamy and sticky lacing. S - Definitely an English smelling beer with a good amount of grassy/herbal/tea hops coming out on top of a slight caramel malt base. Also a fair amount of honey aroma and a touch of citrus, yeast, and mineral as well. T - Initially there is a pale and slight caramel malt, sweet taste. This quickly gives way to the English hops, with a grassy/herbal/ tea like flavor coming through pretty strong along with hints of spice. Some fruitiness (apple and pear) comes out as well, followed by some orange like citrus. This leads to a bit more floral hop taste along with a touch of toasted bread flavor. Mineral flavors come on at the end and linger after the sip. Slight bitterness from the hops through out, but it isn’t all that bitter. M - On the lighter side of medium body with a good level of carbonation. Pretty smooth and a touch of a tingly feeling and a drying finish. D - Very drinkable beer with a lot of different flavors and a nice balance of hops and malt. Very much a sessionable English beer. Easy to drink, and continues to grow on you as you drink it. Notes: Best before 31/12/10. A very nice, solid English session beer. Very nicely balanced and easy to drink. Doesn’t stand out as amazing, but it continues to grow on you as you drink it.

Bottle 500ml from Meladel (King&Godfree). Exceptional bitter, with a great nose. Aromas of biscuit, caramel, nuts, and hints of flowers. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy persistent head.

Darker yellow with solid white foam head lacing to glass. Aroma is bitter hops with some earthy gras, Taste is surprsingly bitter and with very small caramel, again earthy tones. Bitter aftertaste. Organic, so also helping the envirinment. (Velp 201208)

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2008 Had to re-rate this one as the latest score was far higher than the previous one.Not sure whether my taste has changed, the beer has improved or its better bottled. Golden and clear with a trace of sweetness, possibly honey. Plenty of body and a pleasant lingering bitter aftertaste.Definitley a far more atttractive beer than I tried beore.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2012 Aroma: Pleasant citrus, grass, herbs and flowers. Some honeylike malt, very light. Appearence: Golden; not 100% clear, but who cares?; fine bubbles; nice, fine, white head. Taste: Very light sweetness (dry), well marked, medium bitterness, fine balance. Palate: Medium to light body; long, crisp, clean finish. A fine beer! Probably the best bang for your bucks in any norwegian grocery store.

Really good beer when you’re thirsty. Smells good. Tastes absolutely wonderful. The aftertaste lingers for a while and is actually really good. A beer I would consider myself to only drink if I was hungry for a good beer. Not to enjoy. Just to be craving a beer.

Color - golden-copper, light amber. Foam - white, barely noticeable, fleeting. Fragrance - shades of fragrant hops, flowers, dried fruit, pears - like lemonade duchess. Carbonation - just above comfortable. Taste - slightly oily, bitter hops, citrus, honey. Bitter decent but not the best in its class.

0.5 l bottle from local supermarket. Almost orange colour with lots of bubbles and big head. Taste is full of malts and some fruity aromas from hops. After comes the English bittering effect. Quite nice.
