COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Marris Otter, Black, and Crystal malts, Oats, Target hops.
Launched as a 7.2% abv bottle conditioned beer in 2005 when the brewery moved to Witney. In 2011 briefly switched to filtered in 330ml bottles, then back to bottle conditioned at 6.7%, later returning to 500ml bottles. Name changed from Triple to Triple III in 2015.
Thanks to the two fermentations in the Brakspear ’Double Drop’ system, this highly aromatic and satisfying strong beer delivers its rich flavour with subtlety and balance. Crystal, Black and Maris Otter pale malts provide the backbone of this outstanding rich beer. Hops are added three times to provide a good balance between bitterness and fragrance. This is a triple hopped strong beer, packaged in individually numbered bottles.

Pours deep golden without head and medium carbonation. Light flowery nose, slightly soapy. Light flavour with burnt caramel, biscuit and grass. Light short characterless finish. Drinkable but uninspiring.

Minimal head on pouring over a dark amber beer. Quite a dry hop flavour ao be warned if you don’t like the strength of flavour that brings. A slight tang of liquorice persists too.

500ml bottle No. 157222 bb31072015 (1yo, according to website bottling calculator), Maruhn probably. - seamy mahogani pour. Still reticent aroma of gently rum-doused raisin fruitcake, candied orange peel, sweet apricot and banana. Layered taste of rich UK malts, adding stewed pear, treacle, a good helping of butterscotch and maroni to candied citrus zest and nuts. Lovely tart touch complements Cascade’s zesty dryness to balance out the sweet dessert fruits. - A wonderful oldschool UK version of the "tripel" recipe, here actually corresponding to a triple fermentation process ("double drop system + bottle refermentation), that puts many a phenolic and higher-octane Belgian tripel to shame in terms of subtlety of flavour and drinkability.

500ml bottle from a big supermarket somewhere. Pours deep amber with modest ivory head. Aroma is caramel & brown sugar. Taste is smooth, rich and slightly boozy with smooth, subtle sweet flavours and a tangy fruitcake finish. Expected more.

50cl bottle. Clear amber pour. Decent white head. Trying to figure out what the beer style is and failing. Not bitter. Stronger than an average English beer. Quite drinkable.

500ml bottle from Asda. Pours amber, light haze, thin white head. Aromas of marzipan, toffee, faint estery notes. Taste is sweet, with a mineral chalkiness. Marmalade. Sweet finish. Stronger, it would make a nice barley wine.
