Clear amber pour. Decent white head. Trying to figure out what the beer style is and failing. Not bitter. Stronger than an average English beer. Quite drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle from Asda. Pours amber, light haze, thin white head. Aromas of marzipan, toffee, faint estery notes. Taste is sweet, with a mineral chalkiness. Marmalade. Sweet finish. Stronger, it would make a nice barley wine.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle; #294851 - Best before 1 Jan. 2016.
Pours red-orange with a very good head and ample lacing.
The aroma is quite nice: sweet and complex, with suggestions of fruits, honey, and a hint of toffee.
The flavor does not keep up, being impaired, in part, by some boozy notes. The high ABV also prevents the mouthfeel from being as smooth and soft as it might be.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours opaque, copper color, thin head. Complex aroma of caramel, dried fruits, lemon, biscuits which all blends into kind of Belgian barnyard notes. Taste is malty sweet, but not overwhelming, balanced with sour notes in aroma and slightly bitter finish. Quite complex for ale. You start thinking about Belgian triple, but it is still ale. Interesting brew.

Bottle from Asda. Benylin, rosehip malt. Sticky sweet. Sticky is the word of the night. This is OK. English Strong Ales are quite good most of the time, aren’t they?

Good, full, long and rich taste. Real pleasure if you take it with some sweet cheese.
