COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Marris Otter, Black, and Crystal malts, Oats, Target hops.
Launched as a 7.2% abv bottle conditioned beer in 2005 when the brewery moved to Witney. In 2011 briefly switched to filtered in 330ml bottles, then back to bottle conditioned at 6.7%, later returning to 500ml bottles. Name changed from Triple to Triple III in 2015.
Thanks to the two fermentations in the Brakspear ’Double Drop’ system, this highly aromatic and satisfying strong beer delivers its rich flavour with subtlety and balance. Crystal, Black and Maris Otter pale malts provide the backbone of this outstanding rich beer. Hops are added three times to provide a good balance between bitterness and fragrance. This is a triple hopped strong beer, packaged in individually numbered bottles.

Bottled. Coppery brown colour with a mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is floral, grassy, mild caramelly and nutty notes. Flavour is bitter hops, some fruity and caramelly notes along with mild resin and wood. Still rather mild and actually watery for being this strong.

0.33 l bottle from Alko. Amber color. Aromas of nuts, pine, rummy caramel, almonds and toffee. Nutty, caramelly and toffeish taste with pine resins, muscovado sugar, some wine gum like fruitiness and some raisiny notes. Medium body. Alcohol is perhaps a bit sharp which makes this feel stronger than 6.7 %. Nice fruit cake aromas. The taste needs more malty richness, a bit more sweetness an fullness would do good.

33 cl bottle.
Pours dark copper-red color with a large frothy head. Quite faint aroma, some floral notes, faint nutty hops, malts and distant fruits. Flavor of mild fruity malts, some caramel and wood. A bit too grassy taste for a strong ale. Medium bodied, slick palate with soft carbonation. This beer has pretty much nothing to say.

Bottle pours hazy orange amber near clear with light white head and some lace. Aromas of caramel, diacetyl grain and caramel. Light grassy floral hop aromas and mineral yeast esters.

Dark, amber brown. Very thin white head. Sweet caramel malts on the nose with a hint of coffee. Caramel and dry bitterness. Not bad but just one step away from being a beer that I’d buy again.

Bottle. Amber, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate - full malty and sweetish aroma with caramel and toffee, some dark fruitiness, light citrus - herbal hoppynes. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel and toffee, some dark fruitiness, faint alcohol. Finish is average to long, malty and sweetish, some caramel and toffee, light fruitiness, light hoppyness and alcohol. Caramel sweetish strong ale. 6,7% makes the finish drier - still too sweet/too much caramel for me.

330ml bottle (Sivu Kirjasto, Helsinki)
Nice well toasted bread aroma. Some forrest mushrooms. Nice rich red, clear, are you sure this is BC? Small head, but tight and beige. Almost watery in the mouth, a little sweet, but that just fills out the body, like Owd Rodger, for example. A hint of salty butter. Nice dry bitter hops in the finish, some dry tobacco asects, and massivelly over-stewed tea. Really not a bad beer, but could have been so much more. Firstly, this feels dead, I really don’t believe the BC on the label. Reduce the sugar, improve the integration of malt and hop, and this would be great. Love the rich dark malts, but this is less than it could have been.

Has a dark red body with quickly fading white foam. Nose is sweet with honey, molasses and a metallic touch. Taste is nice, starting sweet and followed by a light bitterness. Touches of caramel, pear and herbs can be found. Carbonation is on the high side which suits this beer nicely. Alcohol pushes through a bit in the taste.
