Bouteille 500ml, courtoisie de Hogtownharry. De couleur ambrée foncée et claire. Nez malté de pain rôti, de biscuits au miel, moyen de noix, léger de toffee, de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses, de fumée de cigarette et avec des notes fruitées (agrumes, traces de raisins). Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement plutôt bas et une texture crémeuse. Léger-moyen goût fruité (moyen de raisins, notes d’agrumes et traces de prunes et de pommes) accompagné d’un moyen goût de fumée de cigarette et de traces de réglisse noire lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de biscuits, moyen de caramel toffee sucré et légèrement rôti, léger de pain grillé (notes de butterscotch, traces de sucre bonbon et de sucre brun) puis en finale l’on retrouve une moyennne amertume de houblon herbeux (thé, traces de foin et de thé des bois) aux notes terreuses ainsi qu’un goût de noix asséchantes, de notes d’alcool (petites notes réchauffantes) et d’épices (poivre). Post-goût moyen-long et un peu sec, moyennement amer de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses, léger de rôti avec un goût de noix ainsi que des notes fruitées (zest d’agrumes, notes de moût de raisins) et d’alcool.

Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, malt, toffee, light to moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, has a hop burn finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (250808)

Nov 1, 2008 Dark colour over a nice head. Beautiful balance of alcohol, hops and bitterness. Sublime balance. Sultanas and floor of the forest predominate. Great beer.

Oct 13, 2008 Updated: Oct 19, 2008[500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Reading] Individually numbered A189556 - produced on 26/11/2007 according to their website, so almost a yeay old at time of tasting. Pours red-brown with a minimal white head. Tastes of sweet red fruits (strawberries and plums?), chocolate, treacle and caramel - an odd combination. Quite sweet, with an underlying barely-there earthy bitterness. Mouthfeel is on the sticky side, although not overwhelmingly so. And, as with all BreakWind beers, there was something dirty lingering in the background to spoil the pint for you - in this case it made me think of gravy for some reason! Overall it’s not a bad beer, especially by the low standards of the regular BreakWind’s brews, but apart from the sweetness there’s nothing here that reflects the high ABV - it’s not particularly complex, there’s not a huge depth of flavour, and afterwards I could barely feel the effects of the alcohol! c7

Oct 4, 2008 Bottle. Nice copper/amber color. Aroma is malty and sweet with lots of caramell. Taste is malty and fruity with lots of caramel. Smoooth mouthfeel.
