VeloVampire (381), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 18, 2007 500 ml bottle - pours an almost clear copper with a small off-white head that leaves very nice lace. Really nice aroma of musty hops and also kind of minty. Dark fruits, prunes. Flavour quite nice too, a really good balance of malt and hops and a bit of alcohol, which overpowers a bit as the glass empties. Very English tasting. I want to pick up a few more of these to cellar, and see how they round out. Really good beer. Too strong to session, but a nice sipper.
alari (30), London, England Aug 7, 2008 buttery, flowery and fruity aroma (sligtly caramel)?, nut brown colour. Malt and honey dominate the intitial taste, fading into citrus, but these are balanced perfectly by a crisp acid and slightly bitter finish. Rather solid palate - an excellent beer and dangerous with such a well disguised alcohol content - one of my current favourites.
For some reason, an element of the taste of this reminds me of a Munich Weisse. CQC (214), Sydney, Australia Aug 2, 2008 bgreat well round butter taste - you barely even notive it was 7.2%. Flavour is sweet and short bitter finish with some warming alcohol. FatPhil (2063), Espoo, Finland Jul 14, 2008 500ml bottle
Deep reddy-brown, small white head. Huge fruity ester aroma. Taste follows that lead, but adds a perfumed honeyness. Sticky and delicious. Want again, when it’s older.
