COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
Packed to the gunwales with roasted coffee and chocolate aroma and flavours. Delicately hopped, Impy Dark is just how a mild should be.

Cask (gravity dispense), Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2007. Reddish brown colour. No head. Bags of roasty malt in the aroma, with touches of coffee. The coffee persists into the flavour with the malt becoming quite dry, but full. Definitely in the richer category of mild. Not sure where the Impy tag comes from though. A promising offering from a relatively new brewery. Unfortunately, I never saw the same brewery’s Golden Bud, which was scheduled to appear at this festival.

On tap at the Crown inn, Beeston as part of the CAMRA mild month. Nice smooth taste and easily quaffable for an Afternoon session.

500ml bottle. Coffee and roasted malt aroma lead into a pretty sublime flavoured beer. Good and full flavoured on the tongue, rounded and slightly warming, with a roasty finish. Pleasing ruby red appearance, this is an excellent bottled mild.

Off cask at the rose and crown Chesterfield. Quite nice for a mild, some toffee flavours.

Cask, Leicester Fest 08. Dark brown with a small head. Aromas are malty with caramel and some smoky notes. Earthy hops. Flavours are malty and rich with chocolate and coffee. Some herbal aspects, too. Sweet and tasty.

Cask gravity at Pigs Ear BF 07. Very deep ruby, lots of coffee, bit of a mild really. Nice powder coffee on finish. Decent enough, I quite liked it.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Pigs Ear BF. A dark, chestnut coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma is burnt and roasty with coffee notes. A quite intense nose for a beer of this strength. The taste has burnt malt and a little fruit. Husky like Hobsons but a touch thin. It’s OK.
