Draft at Big Hops. Clear golden color. Aroma of fresh pine. Taste is very bitter, too bitter to let the spiciness of the rye shine through.

Copper body and stable small head. Apricot, oranges and mango hops, very fruity even the yeast. Light caramel malts. Not terribly bitter, so that’s nice sometimes, like now. (On tap at Dough San Antonio)

degbert (1004) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 23, 2013
Bottle. Pours a deep hazy orange-amber with a high, rocky cream-colored head. Nose is lavender, grapefruit, and camphor with a touch of soap. Clean and spicy on the tongue, with definite hops-forward bitterness and a faint trace of dill and fennel. Finish is long and very bitter. Pretty straightforward, but also pretty good. No surprises.

ansermadide (1464) - Kyle, Texas, USA - SEP 17, 2013
Bright, clean, honey-like in color with a bright white head. It has an attractive aroma, wood-like, with earthy, semi-sweet tones, absent of the rye bite that you might expect of a rye IPA. Some rye decorates the soft, earthy background, balancing well with a fresh, almost floral somewhat resinous but light hoppiness. This is definitely a session IPA, and I love the rye edge.

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 5/5   OVERALL 10/20
Beerenberger (1271) - Fischer, Texas, USA - SEP 13, 2013
Resin note on the nose. Pours a hazy orange amber with thin none lasting white head and minumal lacing. The taste is mildly bitter. Malts, spicy/peppery rye, and resin with hints of biscuit on the finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, a nicely balanced and enjoyable IPA.
